The former US chief epidemiologist has publicly admitted that US laboratories in Ukraine were involved in the production of the coronavirus, according to media in Russia and in the self-proclaimed Luhansk republic. The so-called news is a fabrication: there is no statement by Anthony Fauci regarding the production of viruses or other biological weapons in Ukraine.
NEWS: “Chief epidemiologist Anthony Fauci has resigned and started giving candid interviews. He admitted that American scientists worked on the production of the COVID-19 virus not only in Wuhan, China, but also in several biological laboratories in Ukraine, Fox News reports.
Asked why so many special labs were opened in Ukraine, Fauci said that “very necessary experiments were conducted in the interest of the US national security”.
“The labs are extremely dangerous and, under the law, nobody can operate them on US soil. We paid good money to the Ukrainians, they were happy”, he said.

“It was not difficult to convince Kiev, we managed to open several laboratories even in China, especially in Wuhan. The Chinese only knew about some relatively safe activities, not about everything. The Ukrainians, on the other hand, had no idea about most of our experiments”, he said.
In March, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that biological laboratories were operating on the territory of Ukraine that were using dangerous infectious pathogens, part of some joint programs with the Pentagon.”
NARRATIVE: An American epidemiologist has confirmed that the SARS-CoV-2 virus was produced in Ukrainian labs.
WHY THE NARRATIVE IS FALSE: In reality, Anthony Fauci has not said on Fox News that the US produced the Covid-19 virus in Ukrainian bio-labs. Russia News published the story quoting an article from the Fox News channel, but without providing the hyperlink. Only a screenshot it shown, so that the readers cannot verify the source.
The American television station’s article does not include any statement by Fauci saying that the US financed bio labs for the production of Covid-19 in Ukraine, as quoted by the Russian press. The article only says that Fauci might know more about the origin of Covid-19 , but does not include statements made by the epidemiologist.
In another article, American scientists are accused by a journalist of having conducted experiments in laboratories in Ukraine and working on Covid-19. The article appears in the “Opinion” column, the author does not provide any proof, and the claims are just the journalist’s assumptions, not statements made by Anthony Fauci, as the Russian press writes. The American magazine Science has reacted to the Fox News editorial, calling the article a false narrative.
In other words, Fox News did not publish any statement by epidemiologist Anthony Fauci about biological laboratories in Ukraine where viruses were produced; Veridica has not identified any other source in which such a statement appears.
The history of this false narrative goes back. In 2020, the US embassy in Kyiv reacted to it, stating that there was no secret US laboratory on the territory of Ukraine.
Later, to justify the invasion of Ukraine, Russian journalists would report on biological laboratories, created and financed by the US in Ukraine, where experiments were conducted using a coronavirus from bats . These propaganda messages are an attempt to arouse a wave of Russian hatred towards Ukraine and the West, which allegedly brought Covid-19 to the country, being a casus belli found post-factum by the Kremlin.
At the beginning of the invasion, Kremlin spokespeople were claiming that Russia had destroyed American bio-weapons laboratories in Ukraine. In April, the Russian press wrote that Ukraine had attacked Russian military targets with chemical and biological weapons, using military drones. Another false narrative was distributed in May, which stated that the EU was afraid of the tuberculosis from the NATO labs in Ukraine. Recently, the Russian state media has tried to convince the public opinion that the US will cause a nuclear disaster in Ukraine in order to hide the traces of bio-weapon laboratories.
