The promotion of energy from renewable sources aims to take over by force and deception the available resources from countries not aligned with Western politics. The false narrative appears in a text published in Romania, which also contains elements of war propaganda promoted by Moscow.
Narrative: Global warming doesn't exist, it's just a pretext for the West to secure its dominance
NEWS: “According to the information presented in the document, the whole theory of green energy is a false one. The report considers it “the West’s latest lie”, a lie designed to lure resourceful states into a murderous trap. The green industry, the report says, has developed in an absolutely wrong way, being more polluting than the classical industry. In fact, the conclusion supported by the experts and scientists who participated in the drawing up of the report was that the classical industry has the strength not to pollute and to recover its waste, something that it has been demonstrating recently. On the other hand, the “new green industry” turns out to be much more polluting than the old industry, but this pollution is sustained in the name of a “hypothetical better future”.
But what is the reason why the West has embraced the new guideline so ardently? The goal was generated by the drop in the amounts of raw materials existing in the Western states and the development of the states outside the Western sphere, which thus put pressure on the “Western primacy”. In this way, taking over by force and deception the resources available in countries not aligned with Western politics became necessary, and that could be done by starting color revolutions and destabilizing power.
Since such actions have no longer been enough lately, the West has set up a new and last sham, that of green development. By developing the “green industry”, the West wanted to deceive the world into believing it owns a “magical source” of energy that will free it from its dependence on the raw materials of non-Western states. Also, the “prospect” was meant to surcharge and deceit the enemies who would thus enter the green race unprepared, having to buy junk Western technology in exchange for valuable raw materials [...]”
NARRATIVES: 1. Global warming is actually the Western powers’ attempt to seize the resources of other states. 2. The implementation of “green” policies will lead to the enslavement of the population and the imposition of a worldwide dictatorship. 3. The “green” agenda of the European Union foreshadowed the war in Ukraine, the ultimate goal being the defeat of Russia, its dismantling and the sharing of its resources among the Western countries.
CONTEXT: A report published in January by the Climate Action against Disinformation Coalition and conducted by a team of experts coordinated by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue found that in 2022 there was an explosive increase in climate change denial on social media. Veridica anticipated more than a year ago the new conspiracy trend, which was forced to take a break, because of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian aggression on Ukraine.
Dan Diaconu, who wrote that he had heard about the existence of the report, admitted he didn’t read it but commented on it anyway, became known in 2018 when he claimed that the fire at the Colectiv club in 2015 was an “an occult fabrication”, and that the president of the country was no stranger to that. The alleged purpose of the president would’ve been to have the government ousted and to install a new, puppet government, with the task of placing Romania at the disposal of the world occult. The personal blog of Dan Diaconu, who claims he is an economic analyst, is a conglomeration of conspiracy theories, fake-news and disinformation related to most of the current topics (pandemic, anti-Covid vaccines, climate change, etc.), as well as articles in which Russia is considered a model state and its aggression on Ukraine appreciated, and people close to the Kremlin, such as the Putinist ideologue Aleksandr Dughin or the head of the Wagner mercenaries, Yevgeny Prigozhin, are quoted, praised and admired.
PURPOSE: To trigger social discontent and lower the population's trust in the authorities, to reduce and even stop actions that affect economic interests and businesses from polluting activities, as well as to exonerate Russia and present it as a victim forced to defend itself, and build a parallel geopolitical reality, in which the West is the main culprit of the war in Ukraine.
Fact: green energy, a priority to combat climate change
WHY THE NARRATIVES ARE FALSE: As climate change - caused by human activities and especially greenhouse gas emissions leading to global warming - has become more visible, combating it has become a priority. In December 2015, 196 UN member states signed the Paris Agreement, a legally binding international treaty on climate change. Its main goal is to limit temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. For this to happen, greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced by at least 43% by 2030. As more than 50% of these emissions are caused by the burning of fossil fuels for the production of electricity and heat, the agreement provides for the gradual abandonment of this type of energy production. The hypothesis that, after investing tens of billions of euros in the production of energy from renewable sources, the West will return to fossil fuels, is as absurd as it is improbable.
The share of “green” energy in the Western energy mix is approximately 25%, constantly increasing by the year, with new production capacities being put into operation every year. And even if China is the largest producer of wind turbines and solar panels in the world, this did not at all imply the bankruptcy of German manufacturers or the cessation of the production of line equipment by countries with an already developed industry in the field, such as Denmark, Germany, Spain or the USA. Moreover, if the European Union were planning to forcibly take over oil and its derivatives from other countries, the measure aimed at putting an end to the manufacturing of polluting cars by 2035 and granting tax incentives for the purchase of electric cars, would not only be ridiculous, but downright bankrupting.
The narrative about enslaving the planet's population in the name of fighting climate change is not at all new; Over time, Veridica has debunked several such fake news, such as those where it was stated that eco-dictatorship will push humanity towards a feudal social system , or that people will have to pay in order to be able to breathe . In principle, the basis of these narratives is the fear that the fight against climate change will impoverish the population, who will not be able to afford the costs of producing “green” energy. There is also the fear that a strong campaign to combat the effects of global warming led by governments could disregard people's economic freedoms and the state would become too powerful in relation to civil society.
The idea that the EU's “green” agenda actually represents an extremely elaborate plan to defeat Russia is nothing more than a reformulation of the narrative used by Moscow that the West attacked Russia using Ukraine as a proxy . And although Putin’s regime is pushing, using self-victimizing narratives, to divert attention from the true goal of the invasion, namely the conquest of some territories and the economic domination of Ukraine, it was not the West that started and maintained this conflict, but the very presence of Moscow's troops on Ukrainian territory is an act of war. The decision of the European Union to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to renewable sources can only be interpreted as a hostile act in the crooked logic of the Kremlin, “forced” to wage a new war for the defense of the fatherland after “preventing” the invasion of a Nazi NATO – Ukraine coalition in Russia.
