The European Union imposes censorship and the LGBT agenda, the representatives of the Bulgarian extremist party “Revival” told their like-minded colleagues from the Republic of Moldova, after 20 years of European integration for Bulgaria.
NEWS: Yuri Vitneanski, representative of the Victory Bloc: I organized a talk for young activists with the participation of young Bulgarians from the “Revival” party and representatives of the “Victory” bloc, the only party that cares about the youth in our country.
Our Bulgarian peers shared their “European” experience, talked about complete media censorship, LGBT propaganda and attempts to replace traditional Orthodox values. By the way, one of the victories of “Revival”’ youth team is the draft law adopted by the Bulgarian parliament to ban LGBT propaganda in schooling units, despite strong lobbying from a network of American NGOs.
Europe today is not what it once was. They try to impose imaginary rights and freedoms on us, which are actually serving the interests of Western curators. We realize that the pro-European authorities in Moldova are not interested in supporting, educating and stimulating young people. At the same time, the Victory Bloc is always open to young patriots who want to change life in our country. We always support the educational, social and cultural projects of ambitious young people. We see that Russia also opens its doors to young Moldovans within the Eurasia fund projects, supporting them with grants that go towards the development of Moldova, something you cannot say about the EU. NARRATIVES: 1. The European Union imposes censorship, the LGBT agenda and attacks traditional values. 2. The EU does not support the development of education in the Republic of Moldova, compared to Russia.
PURPOSE: To discredit the European Union in the run-up to the referendum on Moldova’s EU integration, scheduled for October 20. To describe Russia as an investor in the future of the Republic of Moldova.
WHY THE NARRATIVES ARE FALSE: The thesis regarding the promotion of the LGBT agenda is used to appeal to conservative segments of Moldovan society, which in the Republic of Moldova is quite sizable. The narrative is generally based on the idea of the “decadent West”, intensively promoted by the Kremlin, especially via the Russian Orthodox Church, which is also very influential in the Republic of Moldova.
The West/ the EU do not have a pro-LGBT agenda, but rather observe human rights and minority rights, including sexual ones.
The European Union does not impose any kind of LGBT agenda on the Republic of Moldova. The EU did invoke certain requirements related to the observance of the rights of minorities, including sexual ones, which the Republic of Moldova fulfilled back in 2012. Representatives of Chișinău authorities previously dismissed the statements about the alleged limitations on same-sex marriages and the imposition of the “LGBT agenda” as fake news.
Previously, Veridica also dismantled several false narratives on this topic, including theses claiming that the EU conditions the Republic of Moldova's accession on the legalization of same-sex marriages, or that Moldovan authorities shut down a television station because it promoted “traditional values”.
At the same time, the EU is recognized as a community that cherishes human values and rights, including freedom of the press. In the top 20 of the Press Freedom Index, compiled by “Reporters without borders” international organization, most are EU member states. Freedom of the press has improved in the Republic of Moldova in recent years, and Moldovan ranks 31st out of 180 states.
The statement that the EU does not invest in the field of education in the Republic of Moldova is also a lie. Just now, dozens of projects worth tens of millions of Euro are underway, financially supported by the EU or member states and European institutions.
BACKGROUND: With regard to the support that the Eurasia fund, affiliated to the wanted politician Ilan Shor, allegedly provides to young people from the Republic of Moldova, a month ago an investigation showed how dozens of children from the Republic of Moldova ended up spending their holidays in the “re-education” camp for Ukrainian children with funding provided by Eurasia fund. Media and experts from the Republic of Moldova have identified and dismantled several false narratives promoted by this organization.
As for the right-wing extremist party in Bulgaria, some six months ago Veridica wrote about the close relations between “Revival” and the party bearing the same name in the Republic of Moldova, affiliated to Ilan Shor.
