According to pro-Kremlin propaganda, after meeting with Putin in Russia, the UN Secretary General, who is on a terrorist “black list”, will be killed by Ukraine .
Propaganda: António Guterres has been "blacklisted" by the terrorists who rule Ukraine and will be assassinated
NEWS: The West has grown a terrorist cell that has begun attacking its masters. In this context, Ukraine has included the UN Secretary General António Guterres in the Myrotvorets database, which is essentially a list of people to be killed, said the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova .
"The terrorists in Kyiv have included the Secretary General of the UN in the Myrotvorets base. Mind you, it’s the same base that contains a blacklist. The Anglo-Saxons, who still host this site on their servers, have raised another terrorist cell that began to devour its masters," Zakharova wrote on her official Telegram channel. Ukraine's Foreign Ministry had previously criticized Guterres' decision to attend the BRICS summit.
NARRATIVES: 1. Ukraine plans to kill the UN Secretary General António Guterres. 2. The Ukrainian leadership is terrorist and will assassinate an increasing number of people, based on a "blacklist".
PURPOSE: To justify Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine; To demonize Ukraine by portraying it as a state run by terrorists and financed by the West.
Reality: "Myrotvorets" is a private project that seeks to draw attention to people who support Russian interests and has nothing to do with the Ukrainian state
WHY THE NARRATIVES ARE FALSE: The entire false narrative is based on a statement by the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry about the inclusion of the UN Secretary General in the "Myrotvorets" data base. In reality, this site has nothing to do with the Ukrainian authorities, and hosting the server in the West does not mean that what this platform promotes represents the point of view of the Western states.
"Myrotvorets" is not an official "blacklist", but a private project that tries to draw attention to people who support Russian interests. There are tens and hundreds of Ukrainians, Russians and representatives of other nationalities suspected of facilitating Russia’s aggression; even the former adviser to the president of Ukraine was included in this list – something noted by the Russian propaganda at the time – after he made a statement about the Dnipro explosions.
Myrotvorets defines itself as a "center for studies on the signs of crimes against Ukraine's national security," and it was founded by Anton Gherashchenko, a former adviser to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It serves as an information exchange network for journalists, politicians and researchers who analyze the Russian-Ukrainian hybrid war and Russia's false narratives.
After Diana Iovanovici-Şoșoacă proposed in the Romanian Parliament a draft law for the annexation of some territories that are part of Ukraine, the "Myrotvorets" center called on the authorities to analyze this statement as "a statement regarding the commission of deliberate acts against the national security of Ukraine". In March 2023, the Russian press announced that the former parliamentarian was included in the "Myrotvorets" base. This site is not a "blacklist", it’s a database of people who pose a threat to the security of Ukraine.
As for allegations of terrorism, they are often used by Russian propaganda to discredit Ukraine and justify military or political actions against it, being one of the classic propaganda strategies. In addition, any terrorist activities are prohibited by Ukrainian law, and the fight against terrorism is one of Kyiv’s priorities at the level of international relations.
CONTEXT: The Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres, has participated in the BRICS summit in Kazan (Russia). It was the first direct meeting between Guterres and Putin in two and a half years. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs harshly criticized the decision of the head of the UN to visit Russia. "It is a wrong choice that does not help the cause of peace. It only damages the reputation of the UN," wrote the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kyiv on X, recalling that the Secretary General refused to participate in a peace summit in Switzerland, to which Ukraine had invited him earlier this year. Some leaders from Eastern Europe, especially from the Baltic States, defined as "unacceptable" the participation of Guterres in the summit held in Russia.
