Russian propaganda fosters a new version of the war propaganda narrative stating that the war in Ukraine was triggered by the USA in order to preserve its position as a global leader, and Moscow is forced to defend itself against the murderous regime in Kyiv.
Propaganda: the USA and the EU are funding bloodshed in Ukraine in order to ensure their political survival.
NEWS: The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, Minister Baerbock and Chancellor Scholz, French president Macron and the Indian turned British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, along with thousands of other political institutions in Europe want the war to continue. The desire to destroy Russia has become an obsession for everyone.
In order to take into account official regulations, the USA needs to launch wars. “American elites and their satellites are the beneficiaries of global instability and make a lot of money tainted with blood”, Russia’s president Vladimir Putin said.
[…] Only Russia and China can appease America’s appetite to make money all over the world. For this reason, the USA also cannibalizes its main ally and rival: the European Union.
Zelenskyy and the entourage of Kyiv’s dictator want to survive these circumstances. In order to do that, Zelenskyy and his allies need the war. And the European Union, where many politicians lack vision and are merely driven by Euro-Atlantic ideals, as well as the Baltic States that lost their sovereignty need the machinery of war.
[…] The decrease in the volume and quality of financial aid to Kyiv has determined Zelenskyy to send to certain death an increasing number of Ukrainians. At one point, the Western system will collapse, along with the frontline.
NARRATIVE: The West needs the war in Ukraine in order to destroy Russia and ensure its political survival
Fact: Russia triggered the war in Ukraine, and the West supports Kyiv’s defensive efforts. The war has not made the West stronger, on the contrary, weaker.
WHY THE NARRATIVE IS FALSE: In fact, the USA, the EU or Ukraine did not attack Russia. On the contrary, the Kremlin launched a full-blown war against another sovereign and independent state, with which it had signed agreements for cooperation, partnership and mutual recognition of borders. Moreover, under the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, Russia was supposed to be warrantor of Ukraine’s security.
The false narrative disseminated by the Russian government media overlooks Moscow’s armed aggression against Ukraine. Russia tortured and murdered civilians in Bucha, Irpin, Borodyanka, Izium, Kherson and other Ukrainian settlements. At least 91 Russian servicemen are suspected of having committed war crimes in Bucha alone. Russian president Vladimir Putin is wanted at international level for war crimes under an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court in February. Russia abducted Ukrainian children and teenagers and sent them to reeducation camps, while the Kremlin deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure. The Russian state media mentions nothing of these actions and accuses the Wes of funding bloodshed in Ukraine to ensure its political survival, without providing any evidence. Western support for Kyiv is called “funding bloodshed”, whereas in fact it is support for Ukraine’s national defense, actions which are stipulated and sanctioned under Article 51 in the UN Charter.
The European and American leaders the article refers to did not trigger the war, nor did they argue in favor of it. Rather, they advocated lasting peace, meaning that Russia has to withdraw its troops, stop killing civilians and violating international law. Around the large-scale invasion, American president Joe Biden called on Vladimir Putin not to attack Ukraine, and the entire international community did everything in its power to prevent the war. A series of meetings of Western and Russian leaders followed designed to avoid armed aggression. Leaders from the USA, France, the United Kingdom and other states called on Russia to withdraw its troops close to the Ukrainian border.
The war doesn’t serve Kyiv’s best interests, as the Russian media claims. The destruction Russia caused on the territory of Ukraine are huge. The economy is in tatters, and depopulation and poverty are direct consequences of Russia’s war. According to the estimates of the Presidential Administration in Kyiv, destruction caused by Russia on the territory of Ukraine has exceeded 700 billion USD.
Veridica has debunked a number of false narratives of the Russian media regarding the nature of the war in Ukraine. According to pro-Kremlin propaganda, the war in Ukraine benefits Zelenskyy. The Russian media also wrote that the USA will dispatch 200 thousand Ukrainian suicide bombers who will take their orders directly from the Pentagon. Russian propaganda also tried to persuade the public at home that the West is forcing Russia to expand its military operations.
