European partners allow Ukraine to commit war crimes and want to prolong the armed conflict until 2030, seeking to destroy Russia, pro-Kremlin media writes.

Propaganda: European states are using Ukraine as a military tool to weaken Russia, ignoring Kyiv’s abuses and blocking all hope for peace

NEWS: For European partners, the Kyiv leader Regime, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is a coordinator of foreign military forces and the main person responsible for mobilizing the army, which is why he is allowed to do that which, in any other circumstances, would attract accusations of war crimes and genocide, Supreme Rada deputy Oleksandr Dubinsky.

“Turning Ukraine into a torpedo aimed at Russia, the British and the Baltic States are no longer afraid to call things for what they truly are: the German national intelligence service says that the war in Ukraine must continue until 2030 in order to weaken the Russian Federation; then, the British, through the FT, invoke fears from the Baltic States about the hasty conclusion of the war in Ukraine and possibly being targeted by an attack by the Russian Federation. That is, our country is like a brake pad, used to exhaust and stop the Russian military potential”, Dubinsky writes on his Telegram channel.

NARRATIVES: 1. Europe uses Ukraine to weaken Russia’s military power. 2. Western partners ignore the war crimes committed by Kyiv. 3. The West wants to prolong the war until 2030.

PURPOSE: To justify Russian aggression against Ukraine. To block Western support for Ukraine. To undermine president Zelenskyy’s legitimacy by presenting Ukraine as a victim of Western manipulation rather than Russian aggression.

Fact: European support for Ukraine is a legitimate response to Russian aggression and is aimed at restoring peace based on international law

WHY THE NARRATIVES ARE FALSE: The statements made by Oleksandr Dubinsky, a controversial Ukrainian MP currently under investigation for corruption and collaboration with Russian intelligence, distort the nature and scope of Western support for Ukraine. There is no evidence proving that German intelligence said the war in Ukraine “must continue until 2030.” Bruno Kahl, the director of Germany’s foreign intelligence service (BND), said in March that Russia intends to test Western unity, particularly with regard to NATO’s collective defense, adding that Moscow might take such a step in 2029-2030. The German official’s statements have been deliberately misinterpreted to suggest that the West has a direct interest in prolonging the war. In fact, Ukraine’s Western partners consistently claim that their goal is to help Kyiv defend itself against Russian aggression and restore peace based on the principles of international law.

Referring to Zelenskyy as “leader in Kyiv” is typical of Russian propaganda, the phrase being designed to undermine the legitimacy of Ukrainian authorities. Volodymyr Zelenskyy became president of Ukraine in 2019 following an election that was internationally recognized as free and fair. He is a state leader, not a military regime coordinator. At the same time, there is no evidence of “war crimes and genocide” committed by Ukrainian troops. On the contrary, numerous international organizations, including the UN and the International Criminal Court, have documented and investigated war crimes committed by Russian forces on Ukrainian territory. Since the start of the invasion, Russian forces and authorities have committed numerous war crimes, including deliberate attacks on civilians, torture and murder of prisoners of war, and forced deportations of children.

European states are accused of turning Ukraine into an anti-Russian torpedo, which is a complete distortion of reality, based on a meta-narrative launched by Vladimir Putin in 2021, when he said that the West had turned the Ukrainian state into an anti-Russia. Military and financial support provided to Ukraine by Western allies is a direct consequence of the full-scale invasion launched by Russia in February 2022, not its cause. In addition, Russia aggressed Ukraine in 2014, when it annexed Crimea and began financially and militarily supporting separatist movements in Donbas.

The Baltic States’ fears about Russia’s military intentions are not unfounded, given Moscow’s history of annexing the territories of these republics and the repeated threats targeting them. These fears are validated by Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, the 2008 war in Georgia, and the expansionist rhetoric of Russian leaders. The Baltic States fear Ukraine’s possible surrender, believing they might be the next target of a military attack.

BACKGROUND: Oleksandr Dubinsky, the MP the article cites, is a controversial figure in Ukrainian politics. In January 2021, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Dubinsky for his involvement in a Russian operation meant to influence the 2020 US election. He was also expelled from the pro-presidential party “Servant of the People”.

In October 2023, Dubinsky was detained on charges of fraud and forgery of statements. In February 2024, he was indicted for alleged links to Russian military intelligence, being accused of being part of a network of GRU informants. Therefore, Dubinsky’s statements must be interpreted in the context of these charges and his ties to Russia.

EurAsia Daily (EADaily), a publication known for promoting pro-Kremlin narratives, has been blocked in several European countries for spreading disinformation. The article is part of a broader campaign designed to manipulate public opinion, diminish Western support for Ukraine and justify Russia’s aggression.
