The endless pandemic, the secret dream of conspiracy-mongers
NEWS: “Peru yesterday declared a state of emergency after a surge in the incidence of the Guillain-Barré Syndrome. […] Authorities earmarked a few billion dollars at first, but more funds are expected to be allotted once the state of emergency is declared. The exact cause of this disease is unknown, although two thirds of patients diagnosed with the Guillain-Barré Syndrome reported symptoms after getting infected with Covid, Zika or after vaccination. There is no treatment. The future looks grim, particularly if we consider the connection between this peculiar syndrome and Covid infection or vaccination. Iosefina Pascal wonders about the odds of seeing a new state of emergency for cardiovascular diseases as well, which would result in an endless pandemic”.
NARRATIVES: 1. Anti-Covid-19 vaccines are the cause behind the Guillain-Barré Syndrome epidemic in Peru. 2. Under the guise of prevention measures, the global cabal will impose increasingly restrictive measures on mankind.
BACKGROUND: Since the beginning of time, mankind has faced epidemics of various scale, from the medieval plague and the 19th-century cholera, to the Ebola, SARS or MERS epidemics and the Spanish flu, smallpox, AIDS or, more recently, the COVID-19 pandemics. Historians have documented such widespread phenomena in the life of society as early as the 5th and 6th centuries, although some sources attest to the existence of pandemics starting the 11th century B.C. In each of these cases, the authorities were compelled to introduce a number of exceptional measures, some of a more restrictive nature, in order to keep the disease from spreading. Quarantine – which was originally the practice of preventing people onboard a ship from disembarking for forty days in order to rule out the possibility of spreading the epidemic – is most likely the best-known such measure, having been applied long before the very term was coined in the Middle Ages.
“State of emergency” is a legal term representing a whole set of exceptional measures in the fields of politics, the economy and public order, applied at regional or national level, which can be declared in the context of serious threats to national security or to the security or health safety of the population. The state of emergency also creates an exceptional legal framework, where certain procedures can be fast-tracked, thus bypassing bureaucracy and reducing implementation delays in order to streamline the entire chain of preemptive measures.
The practice of introducing states of emergency is not unusual for Peru, a country that is dealing with a plethora of social problems caused by political instability, as well as by extreme weather phenomena, from flash floods to volcanic eruptions. Ever since the start of 2023, apart from the health safety state of emergency, another four states of emergency were declared in Peru: last winter due to anti-government protests, this spring due to the large flow of immigrants arriving from Haiti and Venezuela, at the start of the summer due to the flash-floods following a spell of heavy rainfall, and finally last week due to a volcano eruption in southern Peru. This has allowed Lima authorities to carry out swift and effective interventions in all the aforementioned cases, while at the same time raising the awareness of the population regarding these issues and ensuring a better cooperation with them.
PURPOSE: To erode public trust in the authorities, to stir and amplify social unrest.
There is no treatment for self-medication
WHY THE NARRATIVES ARE FALSE: The Guillain-Barré Syndrome is an inflammatory disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks the peripheral nerves, resulting in muscle weakness, numbness and even paralysis of several groups of muscles. Its causes have not yet been fully explained, although physicians say the main risk factors are linked to viral or bacterial infections, which trigger an exaggerated immune response whereby the human body generates antibodies affecting the myelin, the external membrane wrapping the peripheral nervous system, thus leading to the manifestation of symptoms specific to this disease. Contrary to Iosefina Pascal’s statement, in two thirds of the cases, the disease becomes manifest after a digestive tract or respiratory infection with a number of viruses (herpes virus, HIV, Cytomegalovirus, measles, rubella virus, mumps, Zika virus, etc.) or bacteria (in particular Campylobacter jejuni), not after vaccination as Pascal claims. Moreover, the disease has an incubation period of 1 up to 30 days, with an average of 10-20 days, which drastically reduces the possibility of being triggered by anti-COVID-19 vaccines, the first of which were administered a year ago. Also contrary to this conspiracy theory, Guillain-Barré Syndrome has a treatment, which includes plasma exchange (plasmapheresis) and immunoglobulin therapy administered intravenously. This particular type of treatment requires a large amount of immunoglobulin, which is what prompted Peruvian authorities to declare a state of emergency. Here is what a Peruvian Health Ministry official said: “With the introduction of the state of emergency, the Ministry will be able to purchase the immunoglobulin, which is a very expensive type of treatment that could not be bought before because it was not considered essential”. According to the same source, the budget for this type of procurement stood at 3.5 million USD, not “a few billion dollars at first”, while more funds were to be expected once the state of emergency would be introduced, as the article published by Gold FM claims. Other than that, the people of Peru are not subject to any kind of restriction, which disproves the apocalypse predicted by those who prophesize the lockdown of mankind in 15-minute cities or enslaving mankind by means of digital currencies or artificial intelligence.
Moreover, the narrative about a recurring pandemic on the South-American continent has been circulating as early as spring – the current piece of fake news merely changed the name of the disease and narrowed down the area of the “experiment”.
GRAIN OF TRUTH: According to the leaflet of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson, under the Special warnings and precautions for use section, the Guillain-Barré Syndrome has been reported very rarely following vaccination with COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen. At the same time, healthcare professionals are advised to watch out for Guillain-Barré Syndrome symptoms to ensure correct diagnosis and in order to initiate adequate supportive care and treatment and to rule out other causes.
