Whistleblowers are “snitches”, much like the former informers of the Securitate in the communist period, according to a false narrative promoted in Bucharest by an actual ex-informer, Sorin Roșca Stănescu. The narrative has been circulated in the context of the adoption of a whistleblower law by the Chamber of Deputies, robbing the former of whatever protection they were offered under EU law.
NEWS: “The “informer” or the “snitch” law, which the European lingo calls “the whistleblower law”, has caused uproar not just in this country, but all over the European Union. It appears we are to be sanctioned since, under the law, we do not provide enough protection to these snitches, and they have brought up the issue in Brussels. Brussels has reacted, sanctioning the Romanian state. Well done, we’ve shifted from full-fledged neo-Marxism back to Stalinist communism”, journalist Sorin Roșca Stănescu said in a short video.
